BIRTH: "Barnstable, Mass. Vital Records," MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, 4(1902):226 (FHL #974.4 D25md).
MAR: Ibid, 34(1937):20
DEATH: No death rec found. Mary died on 23 Oct 1756 according to William H. Fuller, GENEALOGY OF SOME OF THE DESCENDANTS OF CAPTAIN MATTHEW FULLER (Privately printed, 1914), 15 (FHL #1017047 item 5). This seems unlikely, however, in light of the settlement of estate of William Green, 27 Mar1756, which mentions no wife (Barnstable Co. Probate, 12:386-87 [FHL #904604]).

BIRTH: "Births at Amesbury" in vital recs of Old Norfolk Co., Mass., 1670-1747 (FHL #877468). Birth is not recorded in published vital records of Amesbury, an apparent oversight. Like his brothers, Thomas seems to have dropped Watson from his surname.
MAR #1: No mar rec found. Thomas probably married Mary Colby shortly before 3 Sep 1696, when they receipted Thomas Colby for their share of the estate of Mary's father John Colby (Essex Co. Probate, [o.s.] 313:675 [FHL #875128]).
MAR #2: VITAL RECORDS OF AMESBURY (Topsfield, MA, 1913), 303 (FHL #974.45/A1 V2a). By some published accounts this mar is attibuted to Thomas's son Thomas, but the will of Thomas Challis, below, makes it clear that he was the husband of both.
DEATH: VITAL RECORDS OF AMESBURY, 530. Also see the will of Thomas Challis of Amesbury, 8 Jan 1750/1, proved 6 Apr 1752, inv 13 Apr 1752, Essex Co. Probate, (o.s.) 330:370-73, 452 (FHL #875135).

Birth date is listed as "30 July 1677," which is not possible, as her father had died on 30 May 1676. She was probably born 30 July 1676. She was aged 65 yrs on bur rec, below. She is called "Marah" on birth, mar rec, and births of children, but called "Mary" on gravestone.
MAR: Springfield Vital Records, 1:20 (FHL #185414). Marah was "of Hadley" in this entry. This is a mar intention; actual mar rec not found. Mar date of 10 Mar 1697 is given in Thomas B. Warren, "Springfield Families" (typescript, 1935; Conn. Valley Historical Museum, Springfield, Mass.), 234 (FHL #014787). No documentation found.
DEATH: Mrs. Seth Ames Lewis, comp, "Cemetery Inscriptions West Springfield" (typescript, n.d.), 6 (FHL #974.426/W1 V22l). Aged 65 yrs. Although proof has not been found, it is known that Thomas Meakins had a wife Sarah by 1695. See Hampshire Co. Deeds (Springfield Reg), D:459 (FHL #844487). Thomas Miller, the son-in-law of Thomas Meakins, with Samuel Wells, son of Sarah (Clark) Wells, were joint administrators of the estate of Mary Meakins of Hartford, 3 Jan 1737/8, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 3:180 (FHL #974.6 P2m). The logical explanation is that Thomas Meakins married Sarah (Clark) Wells.

MAR: No mar rec found. The estate distribution of her father, Thomas Meakins of Hatfield, 3 Nov 1693, shows that Mehitable was then unmarried. However, Thomas Dickinson endorsed the agreement of the other heirs on 8 Dec 1694 (Hampshire Co. Probate, 3:15 [FHL #879184]). The distribution of the estate of Elizabeth (Bunce) White of Hartford, 4 Mar 1717/8, gives to Mehitable Dickinson, dau of Elizabeth's sister Mary Meakins. See abstract from Hartford District Probate recs in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGESTOF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 2:449-50 (FHL #974.6 P2m).

BIRTH: "Births, Marriages, and Deaths [Hampshire] County Court," entries for Hatfield, p. 96 (FHL #760648). Birth entry gives date of 12 Jan 1674, which is obviously incorrect. The births of the children of Thomas and Mary Meakins are listed together, with John's birth out of order with the others. Furthermore, the distribution of his father's estate, 3 Nov 1693, indicates John is the eldest son (Hampshire Co. Probate, 3:15 [FHL #879184]). Therefore, John's birth must precede that of his brother Thomas, who was born on 8 Nov 1673. John's birth was almost certainly in 1671/2.
