MAR: No mar rec found. William's wife is called Rebecca, sister of Samuel Scarlett in the will of his father, Godfrey Sheldon of Scarborough, 13 Mar 1663/4, proved 3 Apr 1671 (PROVINCE AND COURT RECORDS OF MAINE, 6 vols. [Portland, ME, 1928-75], 2:423-24 [FHL #974.1 P2p]). However, the will was witnessed by Samuel "Scadlocke," no doubt the same person. See discussion in PROVINCE AND COURT RECORDS OF MAINE, 2:423, fn 302.
DEATH: VITAL RECORDS OF SALEM, 6 vols. (Salem, MA, 1916-25), 6:219 (FHL #974.45/S1 V2e). "Cut his knee hurt by a fall above 2 weeks...age 80 y." Also see the will of William Sheldon of Salem, 23 Nov 1691, proved 3 Sep 1694, Essex Co. Probate, (o.s.) 303:243 (FHL #860485).
