- BIRTH: No proof is found that John is the son of Robert Bodfish, but it can hardly be doubted, as Robert's was the only Bodfish family in the colony at this time. John may be the unnamed "Boatfish" born at Sandwich on 27 Mar 1648 (Nathaniel B. Shurtleff and David Pulsifer, eds, RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF NEW PLYMOUTH, 12 vols. [Boston, 1855-61], 8:5 [FHL #974.4 N2n]). John is first of record on 16 May 1666 when the town of Sandwich agreed to let him keep the calves for the year at 18 pence per calf (Sandwich Town Records, 1:42 [FHL #904579]). Date and place of birth are approximations.
DEATH: No death rec found. John appears on a list of Sandwich townsmen, 22 Apr 1676 (Sandwich Town Records, 1:198).
