- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Nathaniel is identified in the will of his father, John Gage of Bradford, n.d., proved 25 Mar 1673 (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols. [Salem, MA, 1916-20], 2:333-35 [FHL #974.45 P2p]). Nathaniel deposed "aged about twenty years," 28 Mar 1665 (RECORDS AND FILES OF THE QUARTERLY COURTS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 9 vols.[Salem, MA, 1911-75], 3:228 [FHL #974.45 P2e]). Nathaniel's birth in Ipswich is suggested by the family's residence there, 1633-60. See Duane Marshall Gage, JOHN GAGE OF IPSWICH (Decorah, IA, 1983), 35-50 (FHL #929.273 G121gd).
MAR: No mar rec found. It is clear from the will of widow Mary Jewett of Bradford, 8 Jul 1738, proved 27 July 1741, that she was 1st married to a Green, 2nd to Nathaniel Gage, and 3rd to a Jewett, as the will mentions her Green children and the two children of Nathaniel Gage as her own (Essex Co. Probate, [o.s.] 324:513-514 [FHL #875132]). Also see the deed from Thomas Green of Bradford, son and heir of Thomas Green, late of Malden, to John Bunker of Cambridge, 30 Dec 1699 (Middlesex Co. Deeds, 12:414 [FHL #554004]). In this document Mary Gage, widow of Thomas Green, late of Malden, relinquished her right to the property. The wife of Nathaniel Gage is apparently Mary Weeks who married Thomas Green at Malden, 22 Mar 1675/6. Thomas died there, 28 Apr 1693 (Deloraine P. Corey, comp, BIRTHS, MARRIAGES AND DEATHS IN THE TOWN OF MALDEN [Cambridge, MA, 1903], 237, 346 [FHL #974.44/M2 V2b]).
