- BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. Stephen was living on the property of his brother John Hyde at Hyde in the parish of Lodres, Dorset about 1544. See abstract of rental survey in THE HERTS GENEALOGIST AND ANTIQUARY, 3(1899):257 (FHL #091759). That he is a son of John Hyde is suggested by the epitaph of his dau Margaret, wife of Robert Mohun, in the parish church of Fleet, Dorset. The arms of Hyde and Mohun are displayed above the epitaph. See John Hutchins, THE HISTORY AND ANTIQUITIES OF THE COUNTY OF DORSET, 2 vols. (Westminster, 1863), 2:743 (FHL #Q942.33 H2hu). The arms of Hyde are those granted to John Hyde on 22 Dec 1525. DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Stephen was living on 24 Oct 1545, the date of his brother John's i.p.m., in which he is mentioned (THE HERTS GENEALOGIST, 3[1899]:258).
