- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Marcella is identified in the will of her father, William Symonds of Exeter, 20 Feb 1633/4, proved 20 Feb 1634/5, P.C.C., 16 Sadler (FHL #092131). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR #1: No mar rec found. She is called Marcella "Herbert" in her father's will, above, but she is called Marcella Huishe on mar rec to 2nd husband, below. Hence, she was 1st married to a Huishe. Marcella's husband is called Henry Hewish in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England - Symonds-Femell," NEHGR, 80(1926):366 (FHL #974 B2ne). Moriarty obtained much of his information from the writings of Symonds D'Ewes (1602-1650), a grandnephew of William Symonds. The original papers are in Harleian ms, #381, in the British Museum.
MAR #2: H. Tapley-Soper, ed, THE REGISTERS OF BAPTISMS, MARRIAGES AND DEATHS IN THE CITY OF EXETER, vol. 2, Parish register of All Hallows Goldsmith St. (Exeter, 1933), 4 (FHL #547185). Although entry calls the husband "Robert Harbor," it is clear that he was Richard Harbert or Herbert. Richard Herbert gave information to the heralds in the 1620 Visitation of Devon that he married Marcella, dau of William Symonds of Exeter (Frederick Thomas Colby, ed, THE VISITATION OF THE COUNTY OF DEVON IN THE YEAR 1620, Publications of the Harleian Society, Visitation Series, vol. 6 [London, 1872], 280 [FHL #942 B4h]).
MAR #3: No mar rec found. She was Marcella "Duke" in her will, below.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. See the will of Marcella Duke of Salcombe, Devon, 17 Dec 1656, proved 10 Dec 1657, P.C.C., 368 Ruthen (FHL #092232).
