- BIRTH: Catherine is identified in the will of her father, Alexander Buckler of Woolcombe Matravers in the par of Melbury Bubb, 24 Feb 1567, proved 30 Mar 1568, P.C.C., 6 Babington (FHL #091946). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. Adm of estate of Nicholas Derby of Sterthill was granted to the widow Catherine, 28 Apr 1600, P.C.C. Admon Act Book, 46, cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England-Derby," NEHGR, 79(1925):411 (FHL #974 B2ne). This page is missing from the m/film copy of the Act Book at the FHL. It is believed that Catherine Buckler is the wife of Nicholas Derby because the depostion of Alexander Buckler, aged 34, apparently a grandson of Alexander Buckler, deposed in the chancery suit of John Every v. Christopher Derby, 9 Jun 1602, that Nicholas Derby was his uncle (Town Depositions, Chancery, Trinity Term, 44 Eliz. [1602] ["Genealogical Research," NEHGR, 79:421-22]).
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Catherine was no doubt deceased when adm of her husband's estate was placed in the hands of her son Nicholas, 11 Feb 1606 (P.C.C., Adm Act Book, 1605-1610, p. 67 [FHL #093248]). Catherine had been administrator of the estate since 1600.
