- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Elizabeth's existence is suggested by the fact that Joseph Howes was a party to the settlement of estate of Rev. John Mayo of Yarmouth, 15 Jun 1676. He was also coadministrator of the estate with John Mayo, son of Rev. John (Plymouth Colony Probate, 3:1:175[FHL #567794]). The will of Joseph Howes of Yarmouth, 17 Jan 1694/5, proved 7 Feb 1694/5 mentions a wife Elizabeth. The will also makes John Mayo overseer (Barnstable Co. Probate, 1:108-109 [FHL #904598]). Although it is not proved, the evidence strongly suggests that Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Howes, is a dau of Rev. John Mayo. Date and place of birth are approximations.
