- BIRTH: Although no documentary evidence has been found that Thomas is the son of John Crowe, Sr, it can hardly be doubted. No other Crowe/Crowell family lived in the area old enough to have had a son Thomas's age. John Crowe and Thomas Crowe both resided in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Thomas was not on the list of males aged 16-60 at Yarmouth able to bear arms in 1643, so he must have been born after 1627 (Nathaniel B. Shurtleff and David Pulsifer, eds, RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF NEW PLYMOUTH, 12 vols. [Boston, 1855-61], 8:194 [FHL #974.4 N2n]). He was an adult in 1657 when he took the oath of fidelity (Ibid, 8:186).
