- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Sarah's husband, Nicholas Olmstead, was listed as a legatee in the agreement of heirs of Joseph Loomis of Windsor, 2 Dec 1658, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols.(Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:135-35 [FHL #974.6 P2m]). See additional evidence below. Date and place of birth are approximations. Sarah was clearly an older child of Joseph Loomis, as she was married by 1640. Sarah's birth in Braintree is suggested by the family's continued residence in the town from at least 1617-1635. Sarah's father, Joseph Loomis, is called "of Braintree" in the will of Sarah's grandfather, Robert White of Messing, 27 May 1617-20 Jun 1617, Archdeaconry Court of Colchester, orig wills, 8:40 (FHL #091258). Furthermore, Joseph Loomis was a member of the Braintree parish vestry from 1619-1635 (F. G. Emmison, EARLY ESSEX TOWN MEETINGS [London, 1970], 11-50 passim (FHL #942.67 K2e). MAR: No mar rec found. As shown above, Nicholas Olmstead was an heir of Joseph Loomis in 1658. Nicholas and Sarah were married by 28 Sep 1640, when James Olmstead, father of Nicholas, made his will suggesting that his son was married to a dau of his "Brother Lumus" (Manwaring, DIGEST, 1:28-29).
