- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Sarah Day is identified as a dau of Editha, wife of John Maynard of Hartford, in the latter's will, 23 Jan 1657/8 (no probate act), Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:137-38 (FHL #974.6 P2m). Editha was previously the wife of Robert Day of Hartford, as shown by his will, 20 May 1648, no probate act, Hartford District Probate (Ibid, 1:6). Hence, Sarah was the dau of Robert and Editha Day. Date and place of birth are approximations based on family chronology and known residence of parents in Hartford.

MAR #2: Ibid, 1:14. Wife is called "widow." The mar is also recorded in "Hampshire Records of Births, Marriages, and Deaths" (private ms of John Pynchon), entries for Springfield, p. 58 (FHL #014766). Husband was "of Hadley."
DEATH: "Births, Marriages, and Deaths, [Hampshire] County Court," entries for Hatfield, p. 110 (FHL #760648). Sarah was killed by the Indians with son Joseph in the last assault on Hatfield. Also see New Haven County Court rec, 27 Feb 1677/8, in which Abel Gunn of Derby complained that his bro Nathaniel Gunn died at Branford abt 14 yrs ago leaving a minor son Samuel, and that Samuel's mother [Sarah Gunn] removed with her son to Hatfield where she was slain by the Indians, and that the estate of the orphan lying at Branford is wasting.
