- BIRTH: No birth rec found. Date of birth is from family recs of Robert S. Fales; also Charles A. Towne, "Descendants of William and Joanna (Blessing) Towne" (unpublished ms, c1939-40), no. 1-8-5-2-6-1-1-3 (FHL #231886). Charles A. Towne of Chicago collected material on all descendants of William Towne. Betsey's death rec, below, identifies parents and states she died at age 74 yrs, 10 mo, 25 days, indicating a calculated birth date of 19 Feb 1818. Betsey Moore was listed as 31 yrs old in the 1850 U.S. census of Sharon, Vermont, p. 39, dwelling 67 (FHL #444929). She was listed as 40 yrs old in the 1860 U.S. census of Sharon, Vermont, p. 308, dwelling 1597 (FHL #805329). Her death rec, below, indicates she was born in Lebanon [NH]. However, the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Sharon, Vermont indicate both she was born in Vermont. The family is also listed in the 1820 U.S. census of Sharon, Vermont, p. 178 (FHL #281249).
