- BIRTH: Thomas is called eldest son in the will of his father, Robert Austen of Adisham, 23 Nov 1544, proved 5 Jan 1544/5, Consistory Court of Canterbury, reg wills, 19:38 (FHL #188842). Date and place of birth are approximations. Thomas was probably born in Wickhambreux, which is identified as the origin of the family in the Boteler MS, cited in "Wills and Notices of Austen of Kent," MISCELLANEA GENEALOGICA ET HERALDICA, new series, 2(1877):339 (FHL #942 B2m).
MAR #1: No mar rec found. Thomas had children baptized at Adisham in 1540, 1542, and 1544. Two other children are identified in Thomas's will, below, who were probably born before the commencement of Adisham registers in 1538. The name of this wife is not found in the records.
