- BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. Robert is the brother of Thomas Barnard of Salisbury, Mass. See deed from Eleanor Little of Newbury, widow of Thomas Barnard, to "my sister" Joan Barnard, widow of Robert Barnard of Nantucket, 3 Sep 1685 (Nantucket Co. Deeds, 2:20 [FHL #906232]).
MAR: No mar rec found. Robert Barnard and his wife and Joan had a dau Mercy born on 8 Apr 1658 (VITAL RECORDS OF ANDOVER, 2 vols. [Topsfield, MA, 1912], 1:61 [FHL #974.45/A2 V2t]). Robert and Joan Barnard sold land at Andover to Simon Bradstreet, 8 Jun 1667 (Essex Co. Deeds, 12:60 [FHL #866020]). She is called Joan Harvey in the William C. Folger Collection at Nantucket Historical Association. See reference in VITAL RECORDS OF NANTUCKET, 5 vols. (Boston, 1925-28), 5:47 (FHL #974.497/N1 V2n). Date of mar is an approximation.
DEATH: VITAL RECORDS OF NANTUCKET, 5:47. Entry is from the William C. Folger Collection (not an original source). Robert was clearly deceased by 3 Sep 1685. See deed, above. Part of Robert's estate in Essex County was not administered until 1 Feb 1714/5, when his grandson Robert Barnard was appointed administrator (Essex Co. Probate, [o.s.] 311:225 [FHL #875127]).
