- BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. She is called Jane "Godfrey" in James Savage, GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF NEW ENGLAND, 4 vols. (Boston, 1860-62; repr Baltimore, 1969), 1:299 (FHL #974 D2s). But proof is lacking. She is sometimes identified with an Elizabeth Godfrey, who married a George Bunker at Maulden, Beds, 5 May 1644. See Henry L. Bunker, BUNKER FAMILY HISTORY (Bunker Family Assoc, 1984), 80 (FHL #929.273 B884b). The leap from Elizabeth to Jane is left unexplained, however.
MAR #1: No mar rec found. A wife Jane is identified in the adm of estate of George Bunker of Topsfield, Mass., 29 Jun 1658 (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols [Salem, MA, 1916-20], 1:267-68 [FHL #974.45 P2p]).
