BIRTH: Robert is identifieded in the will his father, Robert Moone of Weymouth, Melcombe Regis, 1 Sep 1578-9 Nov 1581, P.C.C., 38 Darcy (FHL #091961). He was "aged 21 and more" at the time of his father's death in 1580. See i.p.m. of Robert Moone of Bothenhampton, 4 Sep 1581, Chancery Inquisitions Post Mortem, series 2, vol. 193, no. 45, cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England - Mohun (or Moone)-Hyde,"NEHGR, 81(1927):93 (FHL #974 B2ne). He is probably the Robert Moon of Dorset, gent., who matriculated at St. Alban Hall, Oxford on 20 Dec 1577, age 19 (Joseph Foster, ALUMNI OXONIENSES, 4 vols. [Oxford, 1891-92], 3:1022 [FHL #942.57/O1 J2ox]).

Also from the pedigree of Maximillian Mohun, son of Robert, drawn in 1606, cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Mohun (Additions and Corrections)," NEHGR, 82(1928):66-67 (FHL #974 B2ne). Depositions in the case of Symonds v. Moone, 19 Apr 1593, show that Robert is a son of Richard Moone and brother of Walter Moone of Bridport (Cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England- Mohun (or Moone)-Hyde," NEHGR, 81[1927]:180-85 [FHL #974 B2ne]). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. Margaret Hyde, wife of Robert Mohum alias Moone, is identified by her epitaph on a brass plate in the parish church of Fleet, Dorset (verbatim copy of epitaph in Hutchins, HISTORY AND ANTIQUITIES OF DORSET 2:743).

BIRTH: Epitaph on brass plate in the parish church of Fleet, Dorset calls her a dau of Stephen Hyde of Hyde (verbatim copy of epitaph in John Hutchins, THE HISTORY AND ANTIQUITES OF THE COUNTY OF DORSET, 2 vols. [Westminster, 1863], 2:743 [FHL #Q942.33 H2hu]). She was said to be aged 90 yrs on epitaph, but this is unlikely, as she gave her age as 70 in chancery deposition, Symonds v. Moone, 9 Aug 1593, Chancery Depositions, Eliz., S, 56/12, cited in G. Andrews Moriarty, "Genealogical Research in England - Mohun (or Moone)-Hyde," NEHGR, 81(1927):183 (FHL #974 B2ne).

BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. Stephen was living on the property of his brother John Hyde at Hyde in the parish of Lodres, Dorset about 1544. See abstract of rental survey in THE HERTS GENEALOGIST AND ANTIQUARY, 3(1899):257 (FHL #091759). That he is a son of John Hyde is suggested by the epitaph of his dau Margaret, wife of Robert Mohun, in the parish church of Fleet, Dorset. The arms of Hyde and Mohun are displayed above the epitaph.
