She is also mentioned in the will of her grandfather Christopher Dabinott of Upway, Dorset, 1 Jul 1637, proved 4 Aug 1637, P.C.C., 113 Goare (FHL #092138). Mary received a land grant in Windsor, Conn. on her father's right with other children of Thomas Newberry, 10 Oct 1646 (Windsor Deeds, 1:7 [FHL #006188]). She also claimed land of her father in Suffolk Co., Mass., 23 Apr 1662 (Suffolk Co. Deeds, 3:525 [FHL #493932]).

MAR #2: No mar rec found. A wife Jane is mentioned in his own will, below. Although Jane and Joan were often interchanged, Jane is clearly not identical to Thomas's first wife, Joane Dabinott. The will of Christopher Dabinott, above, bequeathed to each of his grandchildren but fails to mention Thomas Newberry's youngest children, Hannah and Rebecca, suggesting they were not the children of Christopher's dau Joane.

Date and place of birth are approximations based on family history and chronology. Joane's father owned estates in Marshwood, and she lived there with her husband Thomas Newberry.
MAR: No mar rec found. Joane is identified as the wife of Thomas Newberry in the will of her father, above.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Joane is the mother of John Newberry, who was baptized on 19 Feb 1628/9 and named in the will of his grandfather Christopher Dabinott, above. She is not the mother of Rebecca, dau of Thomas Newberry, who was born about 1631. She probably died soon after the birth of John at the family home in Marshwood.

There was a John Matthew who married Margaret Marder at Yarcombe, 15 Nov 1549. While these may be the parents of Grace, there were other Matthew families in Yarcombe having children at this time.
