He is also identified in the will of his mother, Margery Godbold of Dennington, 15 Nov 1542, proved 14 Dec 1542, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills 14:283 (FHL #096914). Date and place of birth are approximations.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. See the will of Thomas Godbold of Dennington, 18 Nov 1557, proved 7 Mar 1559/60, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 19:500 (FHL #096920). The will mentions no wife or children.

BIRTH: The will of Thomas Godbold of Badingham, 20 Dec 1541, proved 31 Jan 1541, shows that he is the brother of Anne, wife of William Crispe of Laxfield, and Roger Godbold of Dennington (Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 14:158 [FHL #096914]). The key to the father of these three is the tenement "Jaffreys," which was bequeathed by William Godbold of Dennington to his son Thomas in 1504 in exchange for his son's support for life. See the will of William Godbold of Dennington, 4 Apr 1504, proved 14 Dec 1507, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 6:10 (FHL #096909). In 1552 Jaffreys was willed by Roger Godbold's son, William Godbold of Dennington, to his own son Roger. See the will of William Godbold of Dennington, 27 Aug 1552, proved 9 Feb 1552/3, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 16:418 (FHL #096916). It is not clear how Jaffreys descended to William, son of Roger, but it must have been through Thomas Godbold, who received it in 1504. It is believed, therefore, that Thomas is the father of the three siblings, Anne, Thomas, and Roger Godbold. Date and place of Roger's birth is an approximation.
MAR: A wife Margery is mentioned in Roger's own will, below. The will shows that she is also the mother of his children.
