CHR: Thornbury par reg (FHL #414766). Chr entry does not include names of parents. It is believed that two Tayer families were having children in Thornbury between 1558 and 1573. One is Thomas who had son John baptized on 15 Oct 1558, 13 months before this Thomas. Chronological considerations suggest that Thomas is not the son of Thomas but the son of John Tayer, who appears as a godparent during the 1560s, administrator of the estate of Joan Follet in 1576, and in Thornbury manor court rolls, searched by Clive Beardsmore of Birmingham, Eng, by corr 5 Feb 1993. Thomas is called brother in the will of John Tayer of Thornbury, 31 Dec 1600-19 Mar 1601, Consistory Court of Gloucester, orig wills, 1600 #86 (FHL #091387).
MAR: No mar rec found. A wife Ann is mentioned in his will, below.

BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. It is believed that John Tayer is the husband of Mary Cooke, identified as mother in the 1600 will of John Tayer. Mary's bur entry in Thornbury calls her the sister-in-law of Thomas Tayer who died in 1573, thus excluding him as the husband of Mary. Thornbury chr entries suggest two Tayers were having children in the parish during the period 1558-1573. One is the excluded Thomas; the other is presumably the John Tayer who was buried in 1584 and appears in various baptismal records as a godfather, as administrator of the estate of Joan Follet in 1576, and in manorial court recs (searched by Clive Beardsmore of Birmingham, Eng, corr, 5 Feb 1993).
