Jonas Fairbanks and Lydia Prescott were married at Lancaster, 28 May 1658 (Henry S. Nourse, ed, BIRTH, MARRIAGE AND DEATH REGISTER OF LANCASTER, MASS. [Lancaster, 1890], 11, 16 [FHL #547550]). Lydia "Barron," widow of Jonas Fairbanks, made an account of her dau Grace Fairbank's portion of the estate on 8 Aug 1698 (Middlesex Co. Probate Files, 1st series, #7131 [FHL #397053]). Furthermore, Lydia and Jabez Fairbanks were bonded to execute the will of Ellis Barron on 7 Oct 1712, below.

Although Hannah is not called a widow, the will of Hannah Barron of Watertown, 18 Aug 1683, proved 6 Oct 1685, shows that she was formerly the wife of Timothy Hawkins, as she named Timothy Hawkins' children as her own (Middlesex Co. Probate Files, 1st series, #1292 [FHL #386014]). Among the sons-in-law mentioned in Hannah's will was Benjamin Garfield, who receipted to Ellis Barron on 1 Apr 1673 for his wife Mehitable's share of the estate of her father, Timothy Hawkins (Middlesex Co. Deeds, 5:21 [FHL #554001]). Furthermore, Ellis Barron was bonded as guardian to Mehitable Hawkins on 4 Apr 1654 that he would provide all necessaries for her while she was living with the family (David Pulsifer, ed, "Records of the County of Middlesex," 4 vols. [transcript, 1851] 1:51 [FHL #892250]). Hence, it is clear that Ellis Barron married as his 2nd wife Hannah, widow of Timothy Hawkins. Timothy Hawkins married Anna Hammond.

[transcript, 1851] 1:21-22 [FHL #892250]). The identification of Hannah as the dau of William Hammond is based on circumstantial evidence. The will of William Hammond of Watertown, 1 Jul 1662, proved 16 Dec 1662, mentions "my dau Barnes" (Middlesex Co. Probate Files, 1st series, #10262 [FHL #397083]). Hannah's second husband was Ellis Barron, sometimes spelled Barnes in early recs. It is also stated in the will that this dau had previously been a widow but was presently married. Two of Timothy Hawkins' children chose Hammonds as guardians after the death of their father. On 4 Apr 1654 Timothy Hawkins [Jr] choseThomas Hammond as his guardian ("Records of the County of Middlesex," 1:51). Mehitable chose John Hammond as her guardian in Apr 1665. On 16 May 1665, Hammond acknowledged receipt of Mehitable's legacy from Ellis Barron. In this document he calls Mehitable his "kinswoman" (Middlesex Co. Court Files, 1665, fo. 38, #5 [FHL #901001]). Thomas and John Hammond are known sons of William Hammond of Watertown. Finally, the gravestone inscription of Hannah Barron shows that she died on 1 Sep 1685, "aged about 70 years" (William Thaddeus Harris, comp, EPITAPHS FROM THE OLD BURYING GROUND IN WATERTOWN [Boston, 1869], 3 [FHL #564365 item 4]). The age computes to a near exact match with the birth year of Anna [Hannah], dau of William Hammond.
