  1. 2.  Kimball, Henry was born about 1590 in of Mistley,Essex,Eng; died in (inv) 25 Jul 1648 in Watertown,Middlesex,MA.

    Notes:

BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Henry is listed as 44 yrs old on the passenger list of the ship "Elizabeth" from Ipswich to New England in 1634. He is listed next to Richard Kimball, aged 39 yrs, who had lived in Rattlesden, Suffolk (John Camden Hotten, THE ORIGINAL LISTS [New York, 1931], 280 [FHL #973 W2hot]). Both men settled in Watertown and are believed to be brothers, although proof has not been found. They may be the sons of Richard Kimball of Lawford, Essex, wheelwright, whose will, 29 Aug 1619-10 Sep 1619, mentions his eldest son Henry and other children, but names only Henry (Archdeaconry Court of Colchester, orig wills, box 8 #197 [FHL #091259]). Lawford borders Mistley, where Henry resided. And, like Richard, Henry was reportedly a wheelwright; although this, too, is unconfirmed. Richard Kimball of Watertown was also a wheelwright.

    Notes:

CHR: "A Transcript of the Parish Register Book 1 of Great Bromley" (transcript, 1903), unpaginated (FHL #571178 item 8).
    MAR #1: Ibid.
MAR #2: Ibid. The wife was "of this parish widow"; husband was "of Mistley."
MAR #3: No mar rec found. A wife Susannah is identified in the will of Thomas Low of Ipswich, 20 Apr 1677, proved 6 Nov 1677 (THE PROBATE RECORDS OF ESSEX COUNTY, 3 vols. [Salem, MA, 1916-20], 3:175-77 [FHL #974.45 P2p]). Adm of estate of widow Susannah Low, below, was granted to her children, John Kimball and "widow" Straite, apparently Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Straite of Watertown. These are proved children of Henry Kimball and his wife Susannah (Stone) (Cutting). Hence, Susannah's 3rd husband was Thomas Low, whom she married after 1648 when Henry Kimball died.
DEATH: WATERTOWN RECORDS, 8 vols. (Watertown, MA, 1894-1939), 1:3:55 (FHL #974.44/W5 V28w). Aged about 86 yrs. Also see the adm of estate of Susannah Low of Watertown, 7 Oct 1684 (David Pulsifer, ed, "Records of the County of Middlesex," 4 vols. [transcript, 1851] 4:128 [FHL #892250]).

  2. 15.  Katherine was born about 1537 in of Great Bromley,Essex,Eng; died before 4 Jun 1590 in Great Bromley,Essex,Eng.

    Notes:

BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR #1: No mar rec found. Katherine's son, John Thompson, is mentioned in the will of her 2nd husband, William Church of Gt. Bromley, 1 Oct 1574, no probate act, Archdeaconry Court of Colchester, reg wills, 1566-76, Hore 421 (FHL #091235).
MAR #2: A wife Katherine is identified in the will of William Church, above.
MAR #3: William and Margery Church, Katherine's children by her 2nd mar, are called "my sister and brother" in the will of John Thompson of Gt. Bromley, 10 Jan 1578/9, proved 19 May 1579, Archdeaconry Court of Colchester, reg wills, 1574-85, Roote 116 (FHL #091234). John Thompson is the son of Katherine by her 1st mar. The same will ordained John Harris "my father-in-law" executor. Since the testator was not married and listed no children in his will, it appears that John Thompson's "father-in-law" was not his wife's father but his step-father, a common usage of the term. Hence, Katherine married third to John Harris between 1574 and 1578/9.
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Gt. Bromley burials before 1725 are missing. Katherine is not mentioned in the will of her 3rd husband, John Harris of Gt. Bromley, 4 Jun 1590, no probate act, Archdeaconry Court of Colchester, orig wills, box 2, #23 (FHL #091249).
