BIRTH: Birth info is from James Swift Rogers, JAMES ROGERS OF NEW LONDON (Boston, 1902), 44 (FHL #1035542 item 6). Birth is not found in the vital recs of Stratford or Milford. Chr rec, below, establishes father.
CHR: Reg of 1st Congregational Church of Milford, 1:5 (FHL #004936).
MAR #1: No mar rec found. However, it is reported that Bathsheba married Richard Smith on 4 Mar 1670. See James Savage, GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF NEW ENGLAND, 4 vols. (Boston, 1860-62; repr Baltimore, 1965), 4:560 (FHL #974 D2s). Also see Donald Lines Jacobus, "Richard Smith of New London," TAG, 42(1966):113 (FHL #973 D25aga). Although the mar rec is not found, mar to Richard Smith is documented by estate recs of James Rogers. On 15 Sep 1688, son John Rogers and dau "Bathshua" Smith were appointed administrators of the James Rogers estate (New London District Probate Files, #4520 [FHL #1025044]). Richard Smith and Bathshua Smith witnessed a deed for James Rogers to his sons, n.d. (ca 1672) (New London Deeds, 5:19 [FHL #005084]). Also see deed from John Smith to James Smith, 4 May 1709, in which it is stated that all interest in this land had been given by James Rogers, deceased, to his dau Bathsheba Smith, who conveyed it to her son Richard Smith, deceased, which then descended to John Smith (New London Deeds, 6:182 [FHL #005085]).
MAR #2: No mar rec found. Bathshua Fox, wife of Samuel Fox, deeded land to her son James Smith on 20 Mar 1701/2, "which my father James Rogers bought of Hugh Roberts" (New London Deeds, 6:36 [FHL #005085]).

BIRTH: Presumed to be the James Roger, age 20, who emigrated on the ship "Increase" from London in Apr 1635 (Peter Wilson Coldham, COMPLETE BOOK OF EMIGRANTS, 1607-1660 [Baltimore, 1987], 136-37 [FHL #973 W2 col]).
MAR: No mar rec found. Samuel Rogers, son of James, deeded land to Francis Hall, 16 Feb 1662, which he received from his grandfather Samuel Rowland (Stratford, Conn. Deeds, 1:175 [orig 1:99] [FHL #005770]). Elizabeth, widow of James Rogers, appointed son John Rogers and dau Bathshua Smith to oversee her husband's estate, 15 Sep 1688 (New London District Probate Files, #4520 [FHL #1025044]). Elizabeth, wife of James Rogers, is apparently a dau of Samuel Rowland.
DEATH: No death rec found. BIRTH: No birth rec found. Samuel Rogers, son of James, deeded land to Francis Hall, 16 Feb 1662, received from his grandfather Samuel Rowland. See Stratford, Conn. Deeds, 1:175 (orig 1:99) (FHL #005770). Elizabeth, widow of James Rogers, appointed son John Rogers and dau Bathshua Smith to oversee the estate of her late husband, 15 Sep 1688 (New London Probate Files, #4520 [FHL #1025044]). It is clear that Elizabeth, dau of Samuel Rowland, married James Rogers. Date and place of birth are approximations.

DEATH: No death rec found. Elizabeth probably died shortly before 5 Dec 1709 when the estate of James Rogers was re-inventoried and new administrators were appointed (New London Probate, A:455 [FHL #005111]). Also see the estate file of James Rogers, New London Probate Files, #4520 (FHL #1025044).
