He may have been born at Saybrook, where James was living in 1637, or in Stratford, where he lived before coming to Milford in or before 1645. Samuel is also called son of James on mar rec #1.

See Peter Wilson Coldham, THE COMPLETE BOOK OF EMIGRANTS (Baltimore, 1987), 121-23 (FHL #973 W2col). Many histories of the Rogers family claim Thomas was first in Virginia for a brief period, although these claims may be a result of the ship list.
MAR: No mar rec found. Thomas's wife is undoubedly the Anna Stanton whose nuncupative will was recorded on 14 Sep 1688. Notice to show cause, 16 Apr 1711, indicates she is the mother of the children of Thomas Stanton proved in other documents (New London District Probate Files, #5038 [FHL #1025050]).
