Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Moore, David was born on 25 Jul 1752 in Richmond,Washington,RI (son of Moore, David and Barber, Mary); died on 31 Oct 1839 in Preston,New London,CT; was buried in Prentice Cemetery,North Stonington,New London,CT.

    Notes:

BIRTH: Date and place of birth are from his Revolutionary War pension file, National Archives, #W1458 (FHL #971761). David is identified in the will his father, David Moore of Exeter, RI, 7 Nov 1804, proved 2 Jan 1806, Exeter Probate, 7:98 (FHL #932355).
MAR #1: No mar rec found. David had a son David born in 1772. See guardianship, 28 Feb 1787, Windsor Co. Probate (Hartford District), 1:4, paginated from back of vol. (FHL #029160). David Moore's, Jr, gravestone inscription shows that he was aged 72 at death on 1 Jan 1845; hence, he was born in 1772. This was ten years prior to the first known mar rec of David Moore, Sr, suggesting an earlier wife. She was probably a Mosher. Eber Mosher of Sharon, Vermont was guardian of David Moore (b. 1772). Eber previously lived in Richmond, RI. Eber's wife, a distant cousin, was Ede Mosher. It is likely that David Moore (b. 1752) was 1st married to a sister of Eber Mosher or a sister of Eber's wife Ede, also surnamed Mosher. See Mildred (Mosher) Chamberlain and Laura (McGaffey) Clarenbach, DESCENDANTS OF HUGH MOSHER (Madison, WI, 1990), 33-34, 49-50 (FHL #929.273 M853cm).
MAR #2: North Stonington Vital Records, 1758-1864, p. 34 (FHL #1309964). North Stonington was set off from Stonington in 1807. The mar is also recorded in Preston Vital Records, 4:225 (FHL #1311195). David Moore removed to Preston in 1820.
MAR #3: North Stonington Vital Records, 1758-1864, p. 34. Also recorded in Preston Vital Records, 4:225.
MAR #4: Preston Vital Records, 4:225. The mar is also mentioned in David Moore's Revolutionary War pension application, above.
DEATH: Preston Vital Records, 4:225. Also see the will of David Moore of Preston, 11 Oct 1834, proved 30 Nov 1839, Norwich District Probate Files, #7734 (FHL #1025878).
BUR: "Headstone Inscriptions Town of North Stonington," Charles R. Hale Collection (typescript, 1937; Conn. State Library, Hartford), Prentice Cemetery, #3, p. 2 (FHL #003355). The date is incorrectly given as 31 "Dec" 1839.
