BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. John is identified in the will of his father, Robert White of Messing, 27 May 1617, proved 20 Jun 1617, Archdeaconry Court of Colchester, orig wills, 8:40 (FHL #091258). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: Messing par reg (FHL #1472534 item 8). The wife's surname is now only partly legible (i.e. "L...it"). A study of this entry by William Brigg in 1901 concluded that the name is Levit. These is also external evidence of a relationship between the White and Levit families in Essex. See "The Children of Robert White of Messing," NEHGR, 55(1901):25-26 (FHL #974 B2ne).
DEATH: No death/bur rec found. See the will of John White of Hartford, 17 Dec 1683, proved 6 Mar 1683/4, inv 23 Jan 1683/4, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Manwaring, ed, DIGEST OF THE EARLY CONNECTICUT PROBATE RECORDS, 3 vols. (Hartford, 1904-1906), 1:385-86 (FHL #974.6 P2m).
NOTE: John White's appearance next to William Goodwin on the "Lyon" in 1632 strongly suggests that he is identical to John White of Shalford. See Peter Wilson Coldham, THE COMPLETE BOOK OF EMIGRANTS, 1607-1660 (Baltimore, 1987), 102-103 (FHL #973 W2col). Also see the estate records of John Skinner of Windsor (Manwaring, DIGEST, 1:151). Skinner was the husband of Mary Loomis, dau of Joseph Loomis and niece of John White. On 4 Mar 1651/2 the court confirmed that John White had made a bargain with Skinner's widow for the purchase of some land that had belonged to John Skinner. This suggests that John White had immigrated to Connecticut.
