    BIRTH: It is often stated that Mary is the dau of John Thompson and Alice Freeman, chr at Preston Capes, Nhants, 14 Dec 1619, the widow Alice having come to Roxbury with her children. See Mary Lovering Holman, ANCESTRY OF COL. JOHN HARRINGTON STEVENS, 2 vols. (n.p., 1948-51), 1:422(FHL #929.273 St47h); and Donald Lines Jacobus, book review of THE MAGNA CARTA SURETIES, 1215 in TAG, 32:128 (FHL #973 D25aga). However, Joseph Wise, testified in the case of Edmund Thompson, late of Salem, now of Co. Suffolk, Eng, 11 Jan 1648 (ASPINWALL NOTARIAL RECORDS, 1644-1651, 32nd Report Boston Record Commissioners, [Boston, 1903], 186-87 [FHL #974.461 H2b]). This suggests the possibility that his wife is connected to the family of Edmund Thompson, who is not related to John and Alice (Freeman) Thompson. William Aspinwall was a Boston attorney and recorder of the Suffolk Co. Court, 1644-1651.
