Sedgeley, GENEALOGY OF THE BURBANK FAMILY (Farmington, ME, 1928), 8-9 (FHL #929.273 B892s). Date and place of birth are approximations based on family history and chronology.

MAR #2: "Hampshire Records of Births, Marriages, and Deaths" (private ms of John Pynchon), entries for Suffield, p. 123 (FHL #014766). The wife is called "widow Sarah Scone." She is no doubt the widow of John Scone and dau of Edmund Hart. The children of John and Sarah Scone and the death of John Scone on 19 Aug 1684 are found in Westfield Vital Records, A:91 (FHL #185474). The inv of estate of Edmund Hart of Westfield, 15 Jul 1673, mentions son-in-law John Scone (Hampshire Co. Probate, 1:148 [FHL #879184]).
MAR #3: "Hampshire Records," Suffield, 124. The wife is called "Mahetabel Saunders, of Windsor." She is apparently the widow of George Saunders of Windsor and Simsbury who died on 16 Nov 1690. Widow Mehitable is mentioned in the adm of estate of George Saunders, "of Windsor or Simsbury," 3 Sep 1691, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. Joanna deposed in 1651 that she was about 17 years old (RECORDS AND FILES OF THE QUARTERLY COURTS OF ESSEX COUNTY, MA, 9 vols. [Salem, MA, 1911-75], 1:212 [FHL #873951]). It is believed that Joanna was born in England. Robert Adams probably immigrated in 1635, when he first appeared in Ipswich.

Mary Lovering Holman makes Susanna a sister of Gregory in ANCESTRY OF CHARLES STINSON PILLSBURY, 2 vols. (Privately printed, 1938), 2:1037-1040 (FHL #929.273 P646h). Hence, Susanna married 2nd to Stephen Jordan.

BIRTH: Date of birth is calculated from age 86 on gravestone inscription, below. Place of birth is an approximation. Sidney Perley, THE HISTORY OF SALEM, 3 vols. (Salem, MA, 1924-28), 2:47, indicates he was born in 1601. No sources are cited (FHL #974.45/S1 H2ps). Charles H. Pope, PIONEERS OF MASSACHUSETTS (Boston, 1900), 11, states he was 81 yrs old at death, contrary to published gravestone inscription (FHL #974.4 D3p). Andrew N. Adams, A GENEALOGICAL HISTORY OF ROBERT ADAMS (Rutland, VT, 1900), 1, states that Robert was born in England in 1602. The tradition that he came from Devonshire, son of Robert and Elizabeth (Sharlon) Adams, is also recited (FHL #929.273 Ad17ad). No proof has been found. Another tradition is that he came from Holderness, Yorks.
