(2) Her parents resided in Hartford, where she died. (3) Thomas Miller, son-in-law of Thomas Meakins, with Samuel Wells, son of Thomas Meakins's wife Sarah by her 1st husband, administered the estate of Mary Meakins of Hartford, 3 Jan 1737/8, Hartford District Probate, abstracted in Charles W. BIRTH: No birth rec found. Mary is identified in the articles of agreement of the heirs of her father, Thomas Meakins of Hatfield, 2 Mar 1688/9 (Hampshire Co. Probate 2:49 [FHL #879184]). Date of birth is an approximation. Some have supposed that it was Mary, not Sarah, who was born at Braintree on 24 Apr 1641. See Winifred L. Holman, "The Meakins Lineage" (typescript, 1958-60; NEHGS, Boston), 16. However, there is no evidence to suggest such a clerical error. It is equally possible that Mary was born between siblings Thomas and Hannah.

DEATH: No death rec found. Mary probably died shortly before 11 Apr 1705, the date of agreement of the legatees to the joint estate of Mary Allis and that of her late husband John Allis, who died in Jan 1690 (Hampshire Co. Probate, 3:132 [FHL #879184]).
NOTE: It is often published that Mary married Samuel Belding as her 3rd husband. See, for instance, Horatio D. Allis, GENEALOGY OF WILLIAM ALLIS (Hartford, 1919), 6, 7 (FHL #874219). This seems unlikely because she was called Mary "Allis" in the agreement of heirs in 1705, above. No evidence of a 3rd mar has been found.

William Clark of Northampton was made administrator of Cooper's estate on 28 Sep 1680 (Hampshire Co. Probate, 1:210 [FHL #879184]). The will of Capt. Robert Slye of St. Mary's Co., Maryland, 18 Jan 1670, proved 13 Mar 1670, mentions "nephews" Timothy and Thomas Cooper of Springfield, "children of Thomas and Sarah Cooper" (Maryland Provincial Wills, 1:422 [FHL #012841]). Hence, is appears that Sarah was the sister of Capt. Robert Slye. For additional evidence, see Clarence A.
