Intentions were filed at Springfield, 13 Oct 1770 (Springfield Vital Records, Marriages, 2:185 [FHL #185416]). Wife was called Lucy "Sheldon," but she was apparently the widow of Abner Sheldon and dau of Thomas Bardwell. Abner Sheldon and Lucy Bardwell were married at Deerfield, 19 Mar 1745 (Baldwin, VITAL RECORDS OF DEERFIELD, 228). They had a dau Lucy Sheldon whom Benjamin called "daughter-in-law" [stepdaughter] in his own will, below.

    BUR: A gravestone for Eunice Day is found in Union St. Cemetery, West Springfield. A duplicate epitaph is found on Benjamin Day's headstone in Park St. Cemetery. It is believed that Eunice was buried in the older cemetery at Union St. The cemetery filled before the death of her husband, who was buried in Park St. Cemetery with mention of his wife Eunice on his own gravestone. It is believed that she was the widow of John Kent of Suffield who married Hannah Marsh at Hadley on 1 Dec 1731/2 (Hadley Vital Records, 2:1 [FHL #186152]). Intentions were filed at Suffield, 23 Oct 1731 ("Suffield Births, Marriages, Deaths, 1674-1850," Barbour Collection [typescript, 1928; Conn. State Library, Hartford], 142 [FHL #002980]). John Kent died at Suffield, 24 Jun 1737 (Ibid). Hannah apparently returned to Hadley where her family resided.
