Humphrey married Cheney, Eleanor or Ellen on 20 Mar 1642 in Roxbury,Suffolk,MA. Eleanor was born about 1626 in England; died on 29 Sep 1678 in Hingham,Plymouth,MA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. Eleanor is apparently one of the three daughters referred to in the will of William Cheney of Roxbury, 30 Apr 1667, proved 30 July 1667, Suffolk Co. Probate, #458, (o.s.) 1:528-30 (FHL #584127). The will is partially mutilated leaving the name of only one dau complete. However, Humphrey Johnson of Hingham, Eleanor's husband, was appointed to administer the estate of John Cheney, son of William and Margaret Cheney, on 29 Jan 1671/2. The agreement of heirs, 13 Dec 1671, includes Humphrey Johnson among the brothers and brothers-in-law of John Cheney (Suffolk Co. Probate, #576, (o.s.) 7:185-86 [FHL #584128]).
