He was almost certainly born in Portsmouth, where the family resided during this period. Birth date is calculated from age 24 in 1710 from pedigree drawn up by Henry Sherburne, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Hampshire, 1680-1754. Sanborn, GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILIES OF SAMBORNE OR SANBORN (Privately printed, 1899), 85 (FHL #599237 item 2). This is probably based on Nathaniel calling Jonathan Nason "kinsman" in his will. However, Jonathan Nason was married to Huldah Sanborn a niece of Nathaniel Sanborn. The correct identification is found in a deed from Sarah Sanborn, wife of Nathaniel of Hampton, and her sister Abigail Waters, single woman, to their brother Daniel Waters of Topsfield, Mass., in which they quitclaimed their interest in the estate of their late father, James Waters of Topsfield, deceased, 14 Oct 1709 (Essex Co. Deeds, 24:274 [FHL #866024]).
DEATH: Hampton Falls Vital Records, 1:125 (FHL #015161). The entry shows that death occurred on 9 Nov 1723, but the inv of estate was taken 28 Nov 1722. The death date is adjusted to 1722.
