BIRTH: Thomas is identified in the will of his father, Thomas Gould of Bovingdon, 28 Jun 1546, proved 23 Nov 1547, Archdeaconry Court of Huntingdon (Hunts Div), reg wills, 8:131 (FHL #187859). As Thomas was a grandfather of at least one child in 1560, when he wrote his own will, it is likely that he was not born later than 1517.
MAR: A wife Alice is mentioned in his own will, below. The will also mentions "mother Clerk," possibly his mother-in-law.

BIRTH: Date and place of birth are approximations. Richard may be the son of Thomas Gould of Bovingdon, whose will, 29 Aug 1520, proved 24 Sep 1520, identifies a son Richard (Archdeaconry Court of Huntingdon [Hunts Div], reg wills, 2:295 [FHL #187856]). However, this Richard seems too young to be the ancestor, as most of his siblings were minors in 1520. This identification of Richard's parents is advanced in Benjamin Apthorp Gould, THE FAMILY OF ZACCHEUS GOULD (Lynn, MA, 1895), 2-4 (FHL #929.273 G738g). Gould gave Richard a birth year of about 1479, which still makes him a generation older than most of his siblings. He then adjusted the chronology of later generations unrealistically narrow to accomodate the 1479 birth year.
